FuriesThe Rosebuds will release Night of the Furies on Merge, 10 April. This will be their third full length and “best record yet” according to the band’s blog. It was recorded in their home studio in Raleigh, NC. The band have promised to preview some of the new songs either on their blog or their myspace page, but nothing has appeared as yet. In the meantime they’ll be doing a quick tour of the east coast, opening for Yo La Tengo on a handful of dates. If you’re the type to get in a van and follow them around on the tour, watch out for that Moscow, Russia date. Hopefully when they make it out west, they’ll come with quality bands like they have in the past. The last three times they came through Seattle they were accompanied by the likes of Teenage Fanclub, Portastatic and Shout out Louds, not bad company.

06 Feb Carrboro NC – Cat’s Cradle (w/ Yo La Tengo)
08 Feb Charlottesville, VA – Star Hill Music Hall (w/ Yo La Tengo)
09 Feb Baltimore, MD – Sonar (w/ Yo La Tengo)
1
0 Feb Philadelphia, PA – Trocadero (w/ Yo La Tengo)
11 Feb Brooklyn, NY – Union Hall
24 Feb Moscow, Russia – B1 Maximum Club
07 Mar Raleigh, NC – Kings
08 Mar Wilmington, NC – Bellafesta
09 Mar Charleston, SC – Map Room
10 Mar Columbia, SC – Art Bar
11 Mar Atlanta, GA – The Earl
12 Mar Baton Rogue, LA – Spanish Moon
14 Mar Austin, TX – Antone’s (SXSW Merge Records Showcase)

As for what’s on the record, it looks like the song they made available late last year missed the cut, but if the sound of that song is any indicator, then this record will have a bit more keyboards, reminiscent of the Human League and even New Order. AndMoreAgain has heard the Furies and reviews it on her blog, and confirms my suspicions. Here’s the tracklist:

1. My Punishment For Fighting
2. Cemetery Lawns
3. I Better Run
4. Get Up Get Out
5. Silence By The Lakeside
6. Hold On To This Coat
7. Silja Line: On Settling For A Normal Life
8. When The Lights Went Dim
9. Night Of The Three Furies
